Web Design

Attractive, usable, accessible websites

Our three golden rules of web design are appearance, usability and accessibility.

Following these rules ensure that sites are attractive to look at, are easy to use by everyone, and provide an Immediate, Clear and Engaging user experience.

A content management system can be integrated into your website to allow you to update and maintain it yourself. Or alternatively, you can appoint us to update it on an ad-hoc basis for you.

Appearance

A website has to look good. First impressions count for everything on the web. Our graphic designers create websites with a clean visual interface, using complimentary colours, legible typography and appropriate photography. Your corporate colours and/or logo can always be used effectively.

Usability

To be usable, a site should follow established principles relating to layout and navigation. Web users are incredibly fickle, and if your site is difficult to use they won't give it a second chance; they will move on somewhere else.

All our sites follow usability best practice.

Accessibility

Websites must be accessible to all, regardless of what type of computer or software the visitor is using. It is true that the majority of people use Internet Explorer on a PC, but a significant number choose other types of computer (like a Mac) or use internet browsing software like Firefox or Opera instead of Internet Explorer. If you already have a website can you be sure it works on all computer-software configurations?

Importantly, websites must be accessible to people with disabilities, who may not be able to see (or be partially-sighted), or they may not be able to use a mouse effectively. In fact, this is a legal requirement for many sites. Just as buildings have to be adapted for wheelchair access, websites must be built to co-operate with screen-reading software.

All our sites can be accessed by PC and Mac computers running any of the popular internet browsers, and are accessible to people with disabilities.
